We had a wonderful time

August 2022

Overall

We had a wonderful time with 14 of our family in 3 units. The new fire pit was a big hit! S'mores and stories go well with sparks and flames. And the stars twinkle more brightly in Islamorada✨ Thank you, Brandi and Pete especially, The Cornelius Family

We had a wonderful two weeks in the Conch House. The property is so peaceful and private. The view of the ocean and the palm trees is very relaxing. The weather was absolutely perfect.

Great family get-together

Our family of four generations spent a beautiful week at Alligator Reef this past July. Our group of 20 persons, including 3 infants, was spread out over 3 houses. We had one large house near the water and the 2 smaller ones in the back. And it worked! - We still speak to each other. For the infants in the family 2 cots were provided, and we brought one along. For the adults the sleeping facilities were ample.  The large house has a big porch with a beautiful view to the sandbank, a large entertainment and game area, where everyone can spread out as he or she pleases. The absolute highlight of the property is the pool. All of us made use of it and enjoyed spending time in the water. During our stay we prepared all our meals in the kitchen of the big house and ate them all together in the dining room. The 2 BBQs on the property were a very big plus. It worked very well.  The ability to use the kayaks was also a big plus. I remember 2 minor issues where we needed to contact the management and their reaction time was very quick. The issues were resolved.  We had a wonderful time on Islamorada.

Alligator Reef was such an idyllic location for our family reunion! This was our favorite locale. Loved having the 4 separate houses. Everything was clean when we arrived. Loved kayaking every day and having the heated pools.

Nice private home

This is a great little place, nestled in one corner of a large lot with 4 homes on it. It's in a great, quiet location on a side street off the main road, but only about a 5-minute drive from downtown Islamorada. The entire home is on stilts, everything is on the second story. The space underneath the home between the stilts provides for plenty of shaded parking. The home is well-equipped inside, we had everything we needed. Plenty of dinnerware, cookware, and kitchen equipment. Big fridge/freezer, stove, oven, dishwasher, washer and dryer, all of it worked great. Plenty of towels for the bathrooms, plus samples of soap and shampoo, and plenty of spare bed linens. Central AC worked great, kept the place plenty cool, plus there are ceiling fans in both bedrooms and the living room for a little extra breeze. Wifi information was posted near the door, and I found a strong signal with fast service in every room. There's also a cable TV in both bedrooms and the living room. The living room also has a small stereo system if you'd rather have music. The house was also clean. Very clean. Clearly had been vacuumed absolutely everywhere. All the furniture, dishes, linens, bathrooms, and everything else was clean and well cared for. We did encounter quite a few insects indoors but that's totally normal for anywhere in the Keys, you need to expect that. But we did find fewer than average bugs in this house. It's also pet-friendly, our dog had a blast exploring the house and the grounds. But, probably only the most sensitive of people with pet allergies would notice that a pet had been there before. Outside the front door, the porch provides a nice view of the ocean from a few chairs and small tables. There are two ceiling fans over the porch in case the wind's not blowing, plus plenty of exterior lighting for the porch, parking area, and stairs. There is a regular caretaker who comes by to look after the grounds, and take the trash cans out to the curb for you. There's also a landscaping crew that comes by to maintain the grounds and take the waste to the curb. They were all very quiet and won't disturb you, but if you want to say hi, they're very friendly! We also met the neighbors in some of the other homes on the lot, they are members of the owner's family and were also very friendly and welcoming. Moving down towards the ocean, there is a large sandy area with a fire pit and chairs, plus kayaks, paddles, and life jackets available for guests. It's all a little worn down but still perfectly usable. The Florida sun and guest usage definitely take their toll on everything. Moving on will bring you to the long pier which extends from the yard to the ocean. At the end of the pier you'll find a nice area with a single lounge chair to watch the boats come and go. A ladder leads down to a tiny floating dock, one person can easily pass a kayak down the ladder to a second person for launching. One single person could probably manage the whole thing by themselves as well. Even at low tide there was enough depth to get in and out. The dock is also great for sitting down and just watching one of the many ecological microcosms of the Keys. We watched as several fish and tiny jellyfish weaved in and out of the grasses and mangroves that surround the dock. The dock and its location are really only suitable for kayaks. If you want dockage for a motor vessel, you can use Coconut Cove Resort & Marina. It's right next door, easy walking distance, and it's at the end of a channel providing direct access to the ocean. The channel is marked, and should be deep enough for anything in the 20-30 foot range, but be warned, it's narrow and a little curvy so keep your eyes up! Overall we had a great time here, and would recommend this property to anyone. It's in a great location, quiet but close to everything. It's everything a group of 1-6 could need to have a great time with all the comforts of home. And if you also snag the nearby homes with their pools, outdoor bars, and grills, it's a great spot for big events too.

Just Right!

A wonderful spot to rest and relax. All we wanted was there, easy in and out to the Keys. The Lobster Home was comfortable, clean, and just a nice place, had all we needed. Even with a minor issue the maintenance team was right on it! We would do it again!

We spent a week at the Lobster Home and it was excellent! I felt the home was much nicer than the photos. It was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and had all the basic necessities. Easy access to all of Islamorada. The management company was wonderful to work with and addressed our questions promptly. My only regret is, while the other homes in Alligator Reef had pools, this home does not but I knew that going in. I was able to enjoy some sun on the lovely lanai. I would not hesitate to stay again or recommend it to friends and family. The Lobster Home was a quiet and peaceful retreat at the end of a long, busy day.
